Toxic Emissions: Urgent Action Needed to Protect Springtown Community

On February 1, 2024, in Springtown, Texas, Sharon Wilson from Oil Field Witness and Brett Shipp from Spectrum 1 News visited the compressor station on Hwy 51 owned by Colt Midstream. The gas emissions from the facility were observed to be particularly severe. These gases are made up of methane and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which could contain benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene, all of which are known to be carcinogens and neurotoxins.

A local resident in Springtown has been diagnosed with toxic encephalopathy, autonomic dysfunction, low oxygen levels, and immune deficiency. Animals have suffered health effects. This situation raises concerns about the potential health impacts on the surrounding community.

Collectively documenting and reporting these incidents will provide crucial evidence for further investigation and potential action to protect the health and well-being of Springtown residents.
