Fort Worth Junior Sale of Champions Sets Record, Makes History

The Junior Sale of Champions is one of the marquee events to cap off the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.

The sale features 300 of the best junior steers, barrows, lambs and wether goats of the show while bringing in money to help pay for school or other necessities for the young adults who raise the animals.

This year, the show brought in $8.2 million in revenue for the 300 young men and women. The real show stopper was the sale of steer Leadfoot raised by Elli Bezner for $340,000. While it was not a record sale, it did become the second most after last season’s champion steer went for $440,000.

Higginbotham Insurance and Financial Services, based out of Fort Worth, won both the winning bids for the champion steer in 2023 and 2024.

The Grand Champion Barrow, shown by Kamlynn Mason, sold for $35,000 from Standard Meat Company.

Landrie Lain showed the Grand Champion Wether Lamb, which went for $100,000 and was purchased by LKCM Headwater, LKCM Capital Group and Distribution Solutions Group.
