Local High School Athletes from Grapevine and Colleyville Commit to Collegiate Sports

On February 7, 2024, ten student athletes from Grapevine High School and Colleyville Heritage High School in the GCISD district signed commitment letters for collegiate sports. This event, known as National Letter of Intent Day, is held periodically throughout the school year.

Dereon Burns and Derrius Burns, along with Bryson Davis, Harrison Hackbarth, and Layton Towery, have committed to play football at their respective universities. The Burns brothers will be attending Henderson State University, while Davis and Hackbarth will be at Evangel University. Towery will be at the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

Sammy Kelley, a baseball player, will be attending Tyler Junior College. Ellie Lackey, a cheerleader, has chosen The University of Texas at Arlington. Alexandria Navarro, a cross country runner, will be going to Stephen F. Austin State University.

Luke Ullrich, from Colleyville Heritage High School, and Brady Wagner, from Grapevine High School, have also committed to play football. Ullrich will be at Stephen F. Austin State University and Wagner at Yale University. These signings are a significant milestone in these students’ athletic careers.
