Nearly a year ago: Officials identified two of three Lake Lewisville drowning victims

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office released the identity of a man who drowned in Lake Lewisville on Independence Day of 2023.

On three different occasions, three men drowned while swimming in Lake Lewisville the first week of July last year.

During a particular instance, a man and a group of companions had rented a pontoon boat and were taking a swim in the middle of the lake.

The person was not equipped with a life jacket and later submerged underwater without reemerging, as reported by a representative from the Lewisville Fire Department.

The Lewisville Fire Department dive team responded to the scene after it was reported at about 4:15 p.m. and searched for the man, but his body was not found by dusk, so the search was halted.

Crews restarted and recovered the man’s body that evening. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Jaime Gomez, 43, of Davenport, Florida, and ruled his cause of death as drowning.
