TCU wide receiver pleads guilty to misdemeanor after arrest on assault with deadly weapon

TCU wide receiver Eric McAlister was arrested on March 15 on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the Star-Telegram learned on Wednesday.

McAlister, 21, was also charged with a second count of terroristic threat causing fear of imminent serious bodily injury, which is a misdemeanor. According to his indictment, he was accused of threatening a man with a gun.

McAlister pleaded guilty on Aug. 28 to the second count, while the assault count was waived, according to Tarrant County court records.

His plea bargain included two years of probation with deferred adjudication, with conditions including that he complete gun safety and anger management courses and stay away from Whataburger at 109 NE 28th St. in Fort Worth along with no contact with the victim.

McAlister was arrested a second time on Aug. 19 for violating the conditions of his bond, court documents state. McAlister submitted a urine test that was positive for THC on July 31. McAlister played sparingly in TCU’s season opening win at Stanford on Aug. 29.
