Car owner chases thief in his vehicle after it’s stolen

A car theft turned into a police chase early Saturday morning, but Irving police officers soon realized that the car’s owner was also pursuing his stolen car.

The chase began in Irving on Meridian Ave near the on-ramp to the George Bush and ended with officers pursuing the vehicle down Singleton Blvd in Grand Prairie into a dead end.

When the suspect started ramming the surrounding police cars, attempting to escape, officers were forced to open fire.

The suspect suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, discharge, and incarceration.
