Fort Worth celebrates removal of nearly 20 million pounds of litter in record-breaking cleanup year

Fort Worth, Texas – The City of Fort Worth revealed that astonishing 19.6 million pounds of litter and trash was collected and removed during Fiscal Year 2024, in what appears to be a standout year for cleanliness and community effort. Fort Worth continues to demonstrate its dedication to maintain clean and safe communities through combination of citywide initiatives, volunteer activities, and clean-ups.

Working with several departments, the city’s Environmental Services oversaw a number of litter control projects that produced notable improvements. Aiming to provide better surroundings for its citizens, Fort Worth carried out everything from volunteer-led cleanup programs to interdepartmental partnerships and emergency response operations. With almost 20 million pounds of trash gathered, this success points to a strong will toward public health, safety, and community pride.

Targeting unlawful disposal sites was one of the city’s main components of initiatives. Fort Worth effectively cleaned trash and dirt from around 9,000 unlawful dump sites in FY24. Along with addressing unsightly trash, these clean-ups reduced potential health hazards and environmental damage caused by unchecked disposal. Urban regions might have ongoing problems with illegal waste sites, hence this extensive project shows a major drive by the authorities to control and preserve these locations.
