Sources: TCU finds replacement for Doug Meacham

Sonny Dykes is looking within to find his replacement for the departed Doug Meacham, who left TCU earlier this month to return to his alma mater, Oklahoma State, as offensive coordinator.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Dykes is promoting Mitch Kirsch into a full-time, on-field assistant role.

Kirsch, a former star player at James Madison, has been a tight ends coach for TCU. He started his coaching career in 2018 at SMU, where he began a stint as a graduate assistant on the offensive side of the ball before he made the move from SMU to TCU.

Kirsch is expected to coach tight ends. He had been a member of the TCU football support staff in his role working with the Horned Frogs’s tight ends group. Malcolm Kelly will now coach all of the receivers sources share.
