Overtime was no problem for Texas this time. The Longhorns secured their spot in the CFP semifinals after a thrilling 2OT win over Arizona State in the Peach Bowl.
Now, they’ll head to home turf for a chance at playing in the national championship.
Texas will face Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas. Both powerhouse programs who just fell short of expectations in the regular season, they each now have a chance to prove themselves when it matters more than ever.
If the Longhorns want to play for a title in Atlanta, they’ll have to be more consistent against the Buckeyes. Texas let up 21 points in the second half of the Peach Bowl to let the Sun Devils back in the game. They also missed two game-winning field goals near the end of regulation, misses that forced overtime. But there’s nothing like defense prowess to seal the deal after double-OT.
Texas has what it takes to get it done. Now’s the time to prove it.
