Arlington to continue Advancing the Dream celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day

With Martin Luther King Jr. Day coming up Monday, residents can attend a variety of events around Arlington to honor the activist’s legacy during the city’s 36th annual Advancing the Dream celebration. Events will run Friday through Monday.

King Jr. was a prominent leader in the 1950s Civil Rights Movement, known for paving the way to end the legal segregation of African Americans in the United States. He was assassinated in 1968 in Tennessee while advocating to highlight poverty and economic injustice.
