The City of Arlington Municipal Court is offering a helping hand to those with outstanding warrants. The Annual Warrant Resolution drive, which began yesterday and runs through March 14, invites individuals to come forward voluntarily to settle their court obligations. According to the City of Arlington news release, the initiative not only lends individuals the chance to clear their names without the fear of arrest but also includes a financial perk – waiving of collection agency fees on warrants paid in full during the drive. Concerned citizens are advised to contact the court for guidance on resolving their issues.
During the resolution drive, the Arlington Municipal Court noted that individuals with warrants in areas other than Arlington should seek information on how to clear those warrants from the respective jurisdictions. Hoping to lessen the burden of active warrants, Court Administrator Jake Medrano emphasized the annual campaign’s goal, “Nobody wants the stress of an active warrant, and this event gives people the opportunity to resolve their violations without fear of arrest,” according to the city’s announcement.
Arlington has designated the city’s Municipal Court as a Safe Harbor Court, meaning those who decide to turn up can do so without the distress of being taken into custody for Arlington Municipal Court warrants. For the convenience of residents, the Arlington Municipal Court has temporarily moved its operations to UTA’s former School of Social Work Building located at 211 S. Cooper Street, Bldg. A.
