Assailant who shot man in the head in Fort Worth alley was hired to kill him, police say

A 30-year-old man who was shot dead in an alley in south Fort Worth early Saturday was slain by a person who had been hired to commit the killing, police allege.

Martin Diaz’s body was found about 3:30 a.m. March 22 in the 2600 block of Covert Avenue, in an alley of gravel and grass between houses. Diaz had been shot in the head.
