Fort Worth Enlists New Contractors to Tackle Overgrown Public Spaces

Fort Worth’s battle against overgrown public spaces is seeing some fresh troops as the Park & Recreation Department (PARD) enlists new contractors to join the fray. They’re taking on the task of cutting back high grass and weeds in medians and parkways — the bits of land often stranded without direct property owner access. It’s as straightforward as public service can get: mow the lawn, edge the grass, pick up litter.

Assigned only this past winter, four freshly picked contractors are learning the ropes, getting down to the nitty-gritty of their areas’ specific needs. Teamed up with some seasoned pros who have been around and know the drill, they’re supposed to be making sure that every blade of grass is uniform, every piece of litter finds its way to the refuse, and all the clippings are blown back where they belong. “PARD staff is working with contractors to help ensure areas are mowed on schedule as the weather allows,” reads the update from the City of Fort Worth’s official news release…
