Fort Worth City Council members took a step toward annexing 335 acres in far northwestern Tarrant County, voting unanimously Tuesday to advance creation of water and sewer services for a future mixed-use development.
The project expands developments along and north of Bonds Ranch Road. BRN Piedmont LLC plans to add about 700 residential lots, a school, several parks and an emergency services station to the formerly rural ranchland.
Multiple developers have set their sights on building thousands of new homes in the area where local officials have in recent years been priming for growth.
The land currently sits in Fort Worth’s extraterritorial jurisdiction just east of Eagle Mountain Lake. Across the street from the project is Eagle Mountain High School, which opened last August.
Once BRN Piedmont’s project is complete, Fort Worth can annex the land it’s on, making the city 335 acres larger.
