Man accused of assaulting elderly couple, Wood County deputy

QUITMAN, Texas (KLTV) – A man from White Settlement has been charged with attacking an elderly Quitman couple on May 31.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Arturo Alexis Medina was arrested on Saturday following an alleged assault. Dispatchers received a call from a woman in Quitman who said a Hispanic man had knocked on her door, and when her husband answered, he began assaulting him. She said they managed to pin the man down on their porch and needed help.

Deputies arrived and saw an elderly man laying on the front porch holding down Medina’s arms, the affidavit said. The woman had the man’s feet pinned down, waiting for help to arrive. The deputy reported that he ran onto the porch, and the woman moved to give him access to Medina. As he approached, Medina kicked the deputy. When the deputy was putting handcuffs on his left hand, Medina swung at him with his right fist, hitting him in the chest, he reported, and then spat in his face…
