Cool Science, Cooler Treats: First Trip to Chill-N Nitrogen Ice Cream

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of spending some time with family in my favorite cow town, Fort Worth, Texas. We had a fantastic time as we always do when we’re together. We went to a couple of new places to eat, one was quite bougie, glad my brother paid there. The other was what I thought would be a simple ice cream parlor; I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Honestly, I’m not even sure that a simple 31-flavors-type-place even exists anymore. I didn’t try to calculate the number of flavors you could dream up at this place, but it’s a lot. What makes it so different is that the ice cream isn’t made until you order it. That’s right, no giant tubs waiting for a scooper here.

So, What Is It?

It’s Chill-N Nitrogen Ice Cream – Being a newbie at this process, I had to get the full explanation of how it works and how to build my ice-creamy creation.

I won’t try to do it justice here, but what came out on the other end was amazing, a chocolate and coffee ice cream, with Heath Bar pieces, a little dish of Heaven. They turned the liquid ingredients into ice cream while I waited, using Nitrogen…
