Heavy rain shifting east of DFW today, but more rain arrives Father’s Day morning

Flooding rain remains south and east of the Dallas-Fort Worth area this morning, but additional precipitation is anticipated before the conclusion of Father’s Day weekend.

Heavy rainfall occurred south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area during overnight hours; however, Tarrant County experienced 3″ rainfall between 3am and 4:30am, prompting the issuance of a flood warning.  As the morning and afternoon progress, the heavy rain shield will shift eastward, relocating rain chances outside the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Isolated scattered showers and storms may still occur across North Texas throughout the day. Afternoon highs are expected to struggle to reach 80°F.

Isolated scattered showers and potentially a rumble of thunder may occur as a quick system moves in from the northwest. Skies are anticipated to clear by tomorrow afternoon, with highs approaching 90°F. Heat index values will be near 100°F…
