Fort Worth, Texas – Fort Worth City Manager Jesus “Jay” Chapa has officially announced the finalists for one of the city’s most important leadership roles — the next police chief. This position will oversee the Fort Worth Police Department, which consists of 1,896 sworn officers and 574 professional staff members, making it a vital role in shaping the city’s public safety and law enforcement efforts.
The search for a new chief began on May 4, with the application period closing one month later. Mosaic Public Partners led the national search, which drew 51 applicants from 15 states, including Texas. The pool included candidates from municipal, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Of those applicants, 92% were male and 8% were female.
Following initial screenings, nine semi-finalists were interviewed by city leadership on June 25, and from that group, four exceptional candidates were chosen to advance as finalists:
- Chief Robert A. Alldredge, Jr.
- Chief Eddie Garcia
- Chief Vernon Hale
- Deputy Chief Emada Tingirides
