Happy Tuesday. We anticipate a rain-free period this morning through late Thursday, as high pressure in the upper levels continues to dominate our weather. Heat advisories have been issued once again today, and we expect these advisories to be extended through Thursday evening. Afternoon highs throughout this period will approach 100 degrees. We may even exceed 100 degrees at DFW by Wednesday, and especially Thursday. Temperatures will be slightly hotter to the west. Additionally, please note that the heat index value will be five to seven degrees higher than the actual temperature. It is essential to stay hydrated.
A change in the weather pattern is anticipated late Thursday evening, as showers and storms develop along a cold front in our northwest region. The front is expected to move south of the area this weekend. Although the majority of the rain may remain northwest of DFW on Thursday night, it is likely to reform across North Texas on Friday and Saturday. However, it is still too early to predict the exact amount and location of rainfall.
