On August 15, 2025, a Denton County jury found Austin W. Fontana of Providence Village guilty of murder in the 2023 shooting death of his roommate, 22-year-old Nikolai Knud Hannemann. The trial was held in the 211th Judicial District Court.
Fontana was taken into custody following the verdict. The punishment phase of the trial is scheduled to begin Monday, August 18.
