AT&T Stadium will be renamed Dallas Stadium during the 2026 FIFA World Cup to “comply with FIFA regulations that prohibit corporate sponsors from representing host venues,” according to Sarah Bahari of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. However, AT&T Stadium is not in Dallas — it is in Arlington. Bahari wrote Arlington is “long used to feeling stuck in the shadow of the much-larger Dallas,” which has worldwide name recognition. Arlington residents said that they would “simply like credit.” After all, Arlington taxpayers “footed the bill to build AT&T Stadium.” Still, Arlington Mayor Jim Ross “cautioned against getting too upset by the renaming.” Ross: “Am I happy that it’s being branded something other than Arlington?
