Tarrant County Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Assault on Ex-Girlfriend

In a recent update from the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, a Tarrant County jury has rendered a guilty verdict against Devin Bussey, aged 44, for the assault of a family or household member. This is not Bussey’s first brush with the law on similar grounds; a previous conviction in his record has contributed to a substantial sentence of 15 years in prison. The incident that led to this conviction occurred in the early hours of September 20, 2023, when his ex-girlfriend reported an assault at her residence, following a heated argument that turned violent.

According to the social media post by the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, the ex-girlfriend stated that she was visited by Bussey, brought to her door by an acquaintance. After letting him inside, their exchange quickly deteriorated, prompting her to threaten to call the police. It was then that Bussey knocked the phone out of her hand and hit her in the face twice.
