Fort Worth ISD’s plan to help failing schools will force some teachers to reapply for jobs

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Karen Molinar says she has a plan to address seven of the district’s lowest-performing campuses — schools that have put the district at risk of a potential state takeover.

One of the schools received a failing grade from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for the fifth year in a row. Now, Molinar is waiting to learn the district’s fate from Commissioner Mike Morath, who toured several campuses just three weeks ago to meet with teachers and principals and see the challenges firsthand.

Molinar points out that some campus ratings have improved over the past year under her leadership. But state law requires intervention for schools with consecutive failing ratings…
