Committed to positively impacting the Lake Como community, fifth-generation resident Kendra Williams has been named Volunteer of the Month at Como Community Center. With a legacy that runs deep in the heart of her neighborhood, Williams, through her nonprofit Richelle’s Heart, founded in memory of her mother, has tirelessly worked to uplift and empower residents. Her efforts have become a fixture at the center, where she has volunteered for the last few years, according to the City of Fort Worth.
Kendra’s inspiration to dedicate her energy to the center stemmed from her desire to be a positive influencer, not just to her family, but to all in Lake Como. The Como Community Center serves as a hub of togetherness, a safe space for engagement among children, families, and the elderly in the area. Williams told City News that her favorite aspect of volunteering is showing up for the community and being a backbone of support, whether it’s serving up meals at the local food pantry or planning a festive event.
While her official duties involve coordinating events like the annual Back-to-School Fair or Halloween festivities, Williams embraces a broader role as a mentor and supporter within the community.
