Costco rival gets closer to Texas expansion with multiple new warehouses

A Costco and Sam’s Club rival will be debuting in Texas soon. Massachusetts-based BJ’s Wholesale Club is building three brand new warehouses in North Texas and all three are expected to open in the spring of 2026.

The 41-year-old company announced the plan to expand into Texas in March, and clubs are officially listed on the BJ’s Wholesale Club website for Forth Worth, Grand Prairie and Waxahachie. In July, Forney Mayor Jason Roberson revealed the groundbreaking for a warehouse and noted BJ’s Wholesale Club “executives have told me they’re pushing to offer the lowest gas prices around.”

Last week, the company filed plans for a warehouse in Tyler, which is approximately 100 miles east of Dallas, as first reported by KYTX. The filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation says the $9 million warehouse construction is expected to be completed by June 20, 2026…
