North Texas officer shoots dog while on duty, police say

ARLINGTON, Texas — A dog was taken to an emergency vet after a North Texas police officer shot it on the job, police said.

According to the Arlington Police Department, three officers responded to a commercial alarm call in the 1000 block of Enterprise Place at about 12:48 a.m. on Tuesday.

APD said the officers approached a van that was parked near a large dumpster and spoke with a man sitting in the passenger’s seat. The man told officers that he and his friend were dumpster diving for scrap metal and any other items that had been thrown out…
