Driver hospitalized, suspected of DWI after high-speed chase, crash in North Richland Hills, police say

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas — A 61-year-old driver was hospitalized and faces charges of DWI and evading after a brief high-speed chase that ended in a crash in North Richland Hills Wednesday morning, police say.

Dispatch was called about reports of a wrong-way driver near Chisholm Trail and Reatta Court shortly before 1:30 a.m. and when officers tried to stop the driver, the driver sped away, heading north on Rufe Snow Drive, officials say. Speeds in the chase reached more than 100 mph, according to police on scene.

The chase, which lasted around three minutes, ended when the 61-year-old driver crashed into a pole just south of Bursey Road, police say. The driver wasn’t identified…
