NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas — A North Richland Hills firefighter is beginning the new year in the hospital after being seriously injured while battling a house fire earlier this week.
Josh Hurlburt, a 37-year-old firefighter-paramedic who has served with the North Richland Hills Fire Department for seven years, was injured Monday when a roof collapsed while he was inside a burning home.
According to the North Richland Hills Firefighters Association, flames and debris from the collapsing roof — including an HVAC unit — fell on Hurlburt as he worked on the second floor of the house.
