FORT WORTH, Texas — Firefighters in Fort Worth responded to a residential fire early this morning on St. Louis Avenue, where a one-story home was engulfed in flames. The fire, which threatened a neighboring house, was brought under control after nearly an hour of intense firefighting.
The Fort Worth Fire Department reported that crews were dispatched at 5:24 a.m. and arrived on the scene by 5:27 a.m. to find heavy fire at the rear of the home, quickly advancing toward the front. Firefighters initially attacked the blaze offensively and searched for any occupants inside the house. After approximately 20 minutes, the evacuation tone was sounded due to signs of roof instability, prompting a shift to a defensive strategy as crews repositioned outside.
The fire was declared under control after about 40 minutes of active firefighting. Firefighters had to manually knock over a leaning chimney to eliminate the hazard.
