Miller Avenue Horror: Late-Night Fort Worth Crash Leaves One Dead

One person was killed yesterday in East Fort Worth after a violent wreck that kept investigators on scene through the night. Emergency crews found the victim at the site of the crash and pronounced them dead, while nearby streets were shut down so detectives could work and the debris could be cleared.

Officers with the Fort Worth Police Department were called around 12:30 a.m. to the 5100 block of Miller Avenue on reports of a major accident, where one person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The paper reports that the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the person once next of kin have been notified. Officials have not released the victim’s name or any additional identifying information.

Traffic investigators at the scene

The Fort Worth Police Traffic Investigation Unit took over the scene, and Officer Buddy Calzada said detectives were looking at whether speed, weather or impairment might have been factors, FOX4 Dallas-Fort Worth reports. Emergency responders shut down lanes while investigators gathered evidence and conducted an on-scene reconstruction. Police have not yet said how many vehicles were involved.

Fort Worth traffic detectives typically reconstruct the collision, pull data from the vehicles and interview witnesses before releasing a final report, according to department news releases and past fatal-crash statements from the Fort Worth Police Department.
