The Mavericks Fall to St. John’s in Game Two

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington Mavericks built an early lead but could not hold off St. John’s on Saturday afternoon, falling 11–7 at Clay Gould Ballpark.

UTA came out swinging with five runs across the first two innings, getting on the board in the first on a St. John’s throwing error before erupting for four runs in the second. Harold Laracuente sparked the early offense with a two-run single, while Caylon Dygert and Holden Rook each drove in runs as the Mavericks jumped ahead 5–0.

St. John’s answered back with three runs in the third and kept chipping away from there. The Red Storm tied the game with a pair of runs in the fifth, then pushed in front for good with a run in the sixth and three more in the seventh. UT Arlington trimmed the margin to two in the seventh on a pair of sacrifice flies, but St. John’s answered again with a run in the eighth and another in the ninth…
