Class 6A UIL state track: Carroll runner sets meet record, more from area

The UIL Texas Class 6A high school state track meet is underway at Mike A. Myers Field in Austin, and several Fort Worth-area athletes are competing.

Southlake Carroll’s Caden Leonard adds to lengthy legacy

Southlake Carroll senior Caden Leonard entered the state meet looking to win three consecutive titles in the 1600-meter and consecutive titles in the 3200-meter.

The North Carolina signee completed the latter, posting a blazing time of 8:48.81 to set a new UIL state meet record. The second place finisher, Denton Guyer’s Ruel Newberry, finished in 8:53.23…
