Magnitude 3.6 earthquake shakes Bay Area on Sunday

A brief but strong earthquake shook the Bay Area on Sunday morning.

Shortly before 8:40 a.m., a quick rattle was felt throughout the Bay Area. According to early information from the U.S. Geological Survey, the preliminary magnitude was 3.6, and the earthquake was centered just south of Alamo.

The USGS’s self-reported “Did You Feel It?” map shows people from Vallejo to the South Bay felt the earthquake. Shaking was also reported in San Francisco and over the hills in Contra Costa County. No damage or injuries were initially reported…
