Widespread heat advisory goes into effect for Bay Area Thursday

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A widespread heat advisory will be in effect across much of the Bay Area on Thursday. Some areas could hit triple digits with high temperatures between 90 and 103 expected for interior valleys and high elevations.

Even along the bay shore, Thursday could bring temperatures between 85 and 96 degrees, according to KRON4 Meteorologist Brady Brewster. Thursday’s advisory goes into effect at noon and will impact the East Bay, San Francisco Bay shoreline, North Bay interior mountains and valleys, and the Santa Clara Valley and eastern hills.

Thursday’s level of heat will mostly affect individuals who are sensitive to heat, especially those who lack effective cooling systems or adequate hydration.

Thursday’s advisory will remain in effect until 11 p.m.

Red Flag warning

The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning beginning at 11 p.m. Wednesday and lasting through 9 a.m. Thursday. The warning is in effect for the North Bay interior mountains and East Bay hills.
