(KRON) — One year after Walmart opened what it called a “next-generation workplace” in Sunnyvale, the retail giant is laying off more than 300 workers across the heart of Silicon Valley. That’s according to the latest Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) report released Tuesday.
In total, 306 Sunnyvale workers are facing permanent layoffs from the Arkansas-based retailer. This includes 198 from its Crossman Avenue offices, which opened in April 2025. At that time, Walmart said the new offices would initially house about 2,000 employees, with more “moving in as additional buildings open.”
Another 103 workers are being laid off from Walmart’s 11th Avenue offices and five more from its West California Avenue offices, according to the WARN report.
