The Peralta Hacienda, a historic Oakland home and community center built 156 years ago by an early Bay Area settler, was significantly damaged in a Sunday blaze, fire officials said.
In a social media post, museum staff said there were no injuries and the damage, “while significant,” was contained, but it means the building will be closed for the week while it is aired out.
