On Jerry Garcia’s Birthday Dark Star Orchestra Honors Bob Weir At Berkeley’s Greek Theatre
Dark Star Orchestra will return to the Greek Theatre at UC Berkeley for a special two-night stand on July 31st and August 1st, 2026, presented as The Music Never Stops: A Rex Foundation Benefit & Tribute to Bob Weir.
Set against one of the most meaningful backdrops in Grateful Dead history, the weekend brings Dark Star Orchestra back to the Bay Area for two nights of music, community, and remembrance at the start of The Days Between, the annual period from Jerry Garcia’s birthday on August 1st to the anniversary of his passing on August 8th. For generations of Dead Heads, those dates have become a time to gather, reflect, and celebrate the music’s continuing presence in their lives. Taking place July 31st and August 1st, the weekend coincides with Jerry Garcia’s birthday and the beginning of The Days Between, bringing together Dark Star Orchestra, Melvin Seals & JGB ft.
