Tippett Studio, the Bay Area animation company behind creatures, spaceships and cinematic nightmares seen in films from “Star Wars” to “Jurassic Park,” has closed its longtime home after more than 40 years.
Phil Tippett, 74, the Oscar-winning animator and visual-effects pioneer whose work helped define modern creature effects, spent the weekend selling off decades of models, props, equipment, artwork and memorabilia from his Berkeley studio.
