Prosecutors want teen to be charged as adult in deadly Bay Area party shooting

A 17-year-old arrested in connection with a fatal birthday party shooting was charged Monday with one count of murder and six counts of attempted murder, prosecutors said.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office arrested the teenager last week in his Salinas home after a monthlong investigation in collaboration with the FBI. Authorities did not identify the suspect due to his age.

The July 25 shooting outside Morgan Hill killed one person and injured six others. Hundreds of people attended the unsanctioned house party, where officers responded at about 10:15 p.m. to a report of intoxicated people in the street throwing bottles, authorities said…
