A conveyor-belt sushi chain known for its robot drink servers and touchscreen tableside ordering is planning to roll into downtown Redwood City, setting up shop in Sequoia Station. If it opens as planned, the restaurant would mark Kura Sushi’s first foothold on the San Mateo Peninsula and add another location across the Bay Area.
According to reporting by WhatNow, Kura Revolving Sushi Bar plans to open at 1101 El Camino Real, Space F1D, and an alcoholic beverage license application has already been filed for that address. The spot is part of Sequoia Station, a retail property whose LoopNet listing notes commuter rail.
Per the same WhatNow report, the Redwood City restaurant is listed among Kura Sushi USA’s upcoming locations, alongside planned California openings in Canoga Park, Oxnard, and Carlsbad. The chain has not confirmed an official opening date for Redwood City, the outlet notes, and an open question remains around when construction and the state liquor license process will wrap up.
A First for the Peninsula
