Julie Whittington and Megan Twisk — two British expats living in the Bay Area — are hoping to expand their sausage roll business, Mrs. Miggins British Bakery .
“It had started out as a joke that the two friends should start a sausage roll business together,” shares Mercury News .
For readers who are unfamiliar with the concept, Mrs. Miggins offers traditionally made sausage rolls and savory pastries — in flavors such as steak & ale, chicken & mushroom, and chicken tikka masala — frequently sold frozen for at-home preparation.
“Most recently, they’ve expanded to offer sticky toffee pudding and fruit crumbles as well as scones,” the Journal reports.
The article continues, “Eventually, they’d love to open a cafe, but acknowledge that opening a brick-and-mortar location is pricey. So they’re working to expand to more farmers markets first.”
