‘This is not normal’: Swalwell calls out ‘soft on violent-crime prosecutors’ in tweet

( KRON ) — Bay Area Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Livermore) took a swipe on prosecutors who are soft on violent crime on X, formerly Twitter, Thursday. The Democratic representative was retweeting a story about a 2-year-old boy who was kidnapped when the car he was in was carjacked.

“My wife and I play these scenarios over in our head all the time,” Swalwell tweeted . “We’ve practiced going out through the back seat to get our kids out of our car if we are carjacked.”

“This is not normal,” he continued. “Soft on violent-crime prosecutors are letting too many dangerous people threaten our kids.”

While he didn’t call out anyone by name, the Bay Area where Swalwell lives has seen recall efforts against more than one district attorney over the past few years. In 2022, a successful recall effort was mounted against former San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin .

Across the Bay, Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price is currently the target of a recall effort .
