Two Women Vanish in California’s Point Reyes Just Three Weeks Apart: Are They Connected?

Katherine Truitt was an artsy woman, who enjoyed teaching art to children. Katherine had suffered an injury to her neck and spinal cord which rendered her unable to do her daily job of being a pastry chef, something that Kathering also loved.

Katherine was still dedicated to keeping active. She said the more active she was, the more she kept the chronic pain at bay. Katherine enjoyed taking walks and hikes, especially near the coastal towns near her home in California.

Sylvia Lang, at age 77, was a daily writer. She wrote in a journal regularly, and was proud of her accomplishment of writing ‘a haiku a day’. Sylvia also resided in California and also enjoyed regular walks and hikes.

These two women didn’t know each other, but their stories would soon be intertwined.

On January 6, 2010, Katherine left her home with her dogs to go hiking near McCLures Beach in Point Reyes National Park.

Sylvia Lang, a couple of weeks later, also decided to go hiking in Point Reyes National Park.

Neither of these women would return from their hikes.
