The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a weather alert forecasting a potent storm system set to impact the Bay Area, particularly on Sunday, as an eastern Pacific low pressure system gathers strength.
The impending weather system is poised to intensify rapidly as it draws deep subtropical moisture from Hawaii and simultaneously pulls in colder air from the northwest. This combination is expected to give rise to a formidable low pressure system upon reaching our coastal waters late Saturday night and into Sunday.
The NWS has issued Flood Watches, covering a broad area, in addition to Wind Advisories and High Wind Warnings for the entire Bay Area. Residents are advised to be vigilant and prepared for adverse weather conditions.
Rainfall is predicted to be most substantial in the southern half of the Bay Area, closest to the axis of heaviest rain. This forecast raises concerns about potential flooding, prompting the NWS to take proactive measures by issuing Flood Watches to alert residents and authorities.
