The blaze erupted beneath a carport in the 500 block of W. Middlefield Road, targeting vehicles and threatening to spread to the nearby 402-unit building. According to the City of Mountain View’s Facebook post, the alarm was raised at 1:50 a.m., and fire units were dispatched promptly.
