Police shoot person in Union City BART parking lot

UNION CITY, Calif. ( KRON ) — One person was hospitalized after being shot by a Bay Area Rapid Transit Police Department officer in the Union City BART station parking lot Monday, according to transit officials.

The police shooting happened at around 9:30 p.m., BART said. According to the agency, one suspect was shot by police and then transported to the hospital. The current condition of the person is unknown. No other injuries in the incident were reported.

The circumstances that led up to the police shooting were not immediately released by BART officials.

At 9:50 p.m., BART closed the Union City station due to the shooting. The scene is still active in the parking lot as of 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
