The San Francisco Giants made a big splash over the weekend when they signed veteran shortstop Willy Adames to a seven-year, $182 million contract.
New president of baseball operations Buster Posey has shown that he is willing to spend money in order to win. However, he may not be done just yet.
According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post , the Giants may be one of the teams involved in the Kyle Tucker sweepstakes. The Houston Astros recently put their slugger on the trading block.
“The Cubs are seen as a strong player for the lefty-swinger and the Giants are also involved in talks with the Astros,” Sherman wrote.
The Giants will have competition for Tucker. Not only are the Cubs in the mix, but the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies are involved as well.
Tucker is entering the final year of his contract with Houston. The 27-year-old had a strong campaign with the Astros, slashing .289/.408/.585 with 23 home runs, 11 stolen bases, and a .993 OPS. He also posted a 4.7 WAR and a 181 OPS+.
