Bay Area senior women accused of shoplifting from Palisades Tahoe ski shop

SAN FRANCISCO ( KRON ) — Two Bay Area seniors were arrested earlier this month after allegedly shoplifting more than $1,500 of merchandise from a ski shop at Palisades Tahoe over the course of three visits, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. The 68-year-old women face charges of grand theft.

Deputies said the thefts from Parallel Mountain Sports, located in The Village at Palisades Tahoe, occurred on July 22, Aug. 19 and Nov. 25. On each visit, the Olympic Valley store’s surveillance cameras captured the two women concealing merchandise and walking out, according to the sheriff’s office.

On Dec. 2, the suspect’s vehicle was spotted by Placer County deputies traveling southbound on Highway 89. After a traffic stop, a deputy “immediately recognized the women from the surveillance footage,” according to the sheriff’s office.

San Francisco resident Tatyana Zhukovsky and Hillsborough resident Clara Michelson were arrested and booked into the Auburn Jail for grand theft and conspiracy to commit a crime.
