SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) β A parade of storms will drench the San Francisco Bay Area leading up to Christmas Eve, forecasters said. A triple punch of three storms will drop rain across the region between this weekend and Christmas Eve.
KRON4 Meteorologist Kyla Grogan said the first storm will blow in early Saturday morning, the second on Sunday afternoon, and the third on Monday. Rain showers will continue into Tuesday.
That National Weather Service wrote, βThe first two systems over the weekend look to be largely unimpactful in terms of flooding; however, these weekend rains will provide the antecedent conditions for the more impactful systems next week. As soils approach saturation it is more likely that trees will fall, mud and rock will slide, and creeks and streams will rise. Winds will also increase with the passage of each system with gusts up to 45 mph likely in the higher terrain.β
Once soils become saturated and rivers are rising during the third storm, the risk of flooding will increase, Grogan said.
