Bay Area on High Alert: NWS Issues High Surf Warning, Anticipates 40-Foot Waves and Thunderstorms

The warning stretches across all Pacific Coast beaches. It anticipates breaking waves reaching a formidable 30 to 35 feet, with some of the “favored spots such as Mavericks” potentially seeing breakers up to 40 feet, according to the NWS San Francisco. The surging waves pose life-threatening conditions, and locals are urged to exercise extreme caution around the water, adhering to the stark recommendation: “Never turn your back on the ocean!”
